| Steve's true life story |

Just as I predicted:
By Steve Aiken Political operatives used my past (almost twelve years ago) to try and hurt Randy Graf’s chances for election. Below is a clip of my radio show on March 25, 2006 when I predicted ALMOST to the letter, that this was going to happen! I won’t waste your time re-hashing old news except to say; I have NEVER wavered from my stance that I simply did not commit the crimes in which I was convicted. I have spoken about this chapter in my life openly on my radio show and I devote two whole chapters to it in my book. In my opinion, the leading cause of my conviction was the judge’s refusal to allow two other men to testify at my trial. These men were prepared to testify that one of the girls had made the exact same allegations against them when she was in foster care at their homes. When the judge ruled against me, my attorney at the time leaned over to me and said, “we’re cooked”. Well, enough of this, it is all in the book. Here’s the recnt facts: The story about my past was first released Friday June 16, 2006 on ABC News . I asked several reporters who interviewed me if they could themselves pick up the phone and have ABC jump on a story like was done in my case. They all answered in the negative. However, in theory and this could just be me, a 22 year, powerful Congressman, who just happens to be supporting one of Randy Graf’s opponents could most certainly make that kind of phone call. Keep in mind, we had received inside information that Steve Huffman, Randy Graf's closest opponant, was going to use my past to try and ruin Randy’s run against him. Huffman did the exact same thing to another Radio Talk Show Host in Tucson, Jon C. Scott. In that case, just prior to their election, Huffman reached down into the gutter and (again) dug out the fact that when Scott was very young, he too had a conviction for a relatively minor offence. Huffman barely won that race. Do you see a pattern emerging here? Now back to the broo- hah-hah surrounding me: Within minutes of the ABC story coming out about me, Huffman put out a press release copying the story with mug shot and all. Heck he wasn’t even smart enough to wait until my body was cold! Huffman continued his attacks on Graf, this is what happens in politics when you cannot beat a Candidate like Randy Graf ON THE ISSUES! Click to hear when I predicted this back on March 25, 2006 |

| I must have done fifteen or twenty interviews that day. I was on my cell phone so much that the battery eventually went dead. I think I surprised the media by answering their questions forthrightly and was not afraid to take the subject of my past on with them. I had spoken openly on my show about the false charges against me, and I had no problem talking about them in this venue. I did receive a call from one of the producers of the Alan Colmes (of Hannity & Colmes fame) radio show, but that was one interview I was not about to agree to do.
Knowing Kolbe or Huffman were going to make me the story at some point, it had been my plan all along to take a lesser role in the campaign or leave altogether. I did not anticipate having to do that until about 30 or 45 days before the primary. This is when I figured they would launch the attack on Randy using me as the ammunition (at least that is when it would have done the most damage). Regardless, I never planned on running Randy’s campaign for the general election but I was hoping to stay by his side in some capacity. I always knew it might be in Randy Graf’s best interest to let me go so that my past would not become a distraction to his campaign, and I was prepared. In the end, it was in Randy’s best interest to “fire” me and I was more than willing to fall on my “sword” for the greater good. What I wasn’t prepared for was having the radio station owner cancel my radio show over this. Of course, the man is a Christian, and as I said in my book, it’s not the strangers who can hurt you the most, it’s often your own “brothers and sisters.” In my flesh, I viewed the cancelling of my show as the most cowardly thing I had ever seen this man do. However, I often said that it wasn’t my show: it belonged to God. I was now faced with having to walk the walk and not just talking the talk. It hurt a lot, but I got over it and only pray that the Lord will put me back on the air somewhere, someday, but I’ll leave that up to HIM! So, Jim Kolbe and Steve Huffman legally had me “whacked.” They beat me but they could not beat God and they sure did not beat Randy Graf in the Republican primary! In spite of the lies Huffman’s campaign spread about Randy, he beat Huffman by 6 percentage points! It really was my greatest honor and duty to my country to help rid the country of a radical politician like Jim Kolbe and to jump on a political grenade for a man like Randy Graf. |
